Travis Barker and friends took to the Orange Country Fairgrounds for the annual Musink festival. This year’s edition featured talented tattoo artists, decked out cars and special performances from acts in the realms of hardcore, hip hop, and punk.
What is the Musink Festival?
Musink is annual gathering in Costa Mesa curated by blink 182 drummer Travis Barker. The festival has been a highlight for many Orange County music fans for over a decade.
This year featured a handful of memorable acts, however, one of the most anticipated performances of this weekend was the return of Limp Bizkit to the stage.
Limp Bizkit Plays Comeback Show in Costa Mesa
The members of Limp Bizkit to a hiatus from playing collectively for a couple of years and their performance at Musink was the second performance the band, with all founding members, played in a very long time.
The band played not only a handful of their most popular singles, including “Nookie” and “Break Stuff,” but also, played a handful of covers including Nirvana’s “Heart Shaped Box,” Green Day’s “Brain Stew” and their most infamous rendition of George Michael’s “Faith.”
Punk, Hip Hop and Hardcore Collide at Musink
Each day of the festival had a curated lineup that consisted of acts pertaining to one of three genres. Friday’s date consisted of hardcore bands, Saturday’s lineup consisted of acts in the realms of hip hop and nu metal and Sunday’s lineup was dominated with punk artists.
Festival founder Travis Barker stated in a promotional video on the festival’s social media that he was especially thrilled that he could finally have the band Suicidal Tendencies to headline the Friday date of the festival.
Orange County punk band The Vandals closed out the festival on Sunday night drawing music fans, tattoo enthusiasts and car fanatics near and far under the same Orange County Fair hanger.
