Crystal Tides are an energetic feel good indie rock band from Portsmouth, and they have just released their highly infectious guitar driven single ‘Monday’.
Already gaining support by Radio X, the single is certain to get your toes involuntary tapping away, lyrically the song is about youthfulness, enjoying the weekend and ensuring you’re well quenched, an important message for heatwave weather.
The intro of the Monday sounds fairly reminiscent of ‘If You Wanna’ by The Vaccines before bursting into a similarly memorable scream-along at the top of your lungs chorus. Fronted by Billy Gregory, the quartet are influenced by modern feel-good pop melodies.
Crystal Tides are an awesome live band, so let’s hope covid-19 can do one and these boys can go back to filling venues with their incredible sound.

Some very interesting news today from Third Man Records, who have quite a reputation for quality, limited pressing. They’ve teamed up with Sony Music Entertainment for a very special, limited edition box set that many of you will undoubtably be interested in! Individually out of print on LP for almost ten years (the last issue of these was in 2014) and never previously available together on vinyl, Third Man are releasing Syd Barrettâs solo albums – The Madcap Laughs, Barrett, and Opel – as the 57th installment of their Vault subscription series. This reissue sees January 1970’s The Madcap Laughs pressed on ‘Golden Hair’ coloured vinyl, November 1970’s Barrett on ‘Baby Lemonade’ coloured vinyl, and 1988’s Opel on ‘Milky Way Opal’ coloured vinyl. All three LPs are pressed on 180-gram vinyl at Third Man Pressing in Detroit and will come housed in a newly-designed slipcase featuring a recursive portrait of Syd by New York Times bestselling author and illustrator Greg Ruth, executed in one continuous line without lifting the pen. An added bonus to this collection is a 7-inch single by David Gilmour covering two Barrett compositions. Dominoes was recorded live at London’s Royal Festival Hall in January 2002, and Dark Globe was recorded live in Clam, Austria, as a tribute, shortly after Syd’s death in July 2006. Back in December, we told you about a new, streaming-only release from Roger Waters – The Lockdown Sessions. The album consists of six songs, and runs for 39 and a half minutes. At that time, there were no publicised plans for a physical release of this, but the good news for those of you interested in this, is that this afternoon a CD and vinyl LP has been announced, for release on June 2nd, 2023. Housed in a gatefold cover, the tracks on the album are Mother, Two Suns In The Sunset, Vera, The Gunner’s Dream, The Bravery Of Being Out Of Range, and Comfortably Numb 2022. Roger explained that he was going to do an album of unusual encores, but then lockdown struck. “Our Us and Them Tour lasted three years… At every gig we did an encore after the main show closed with Comfortably Numb⦠the encore was always Mother… I can’t remember why I decided to start doing other songs?… Anyway, at some point after the end of the tour⦠I started thinking, “It could make an interesting album, all those encores”⦠“The Encores”. “Yeah, has a nice ring to it!” Thenâ¦I’m in England doing the Ginger Baker tribute gig one Tuesday night at the Hammersmith Odeon with Eric Clapton and⦠the following Saturday marching from The Australian Embassy to Parliament Square to make a speech in support of Julian Assange, when bugger me, Covidâ¦Schlummmm! “For me it was Friday March 13th 2020.
