Following a year of highlights including the bands debut US gigs and heavy support from Radio X, Brighton based quartet Canned Pineapple return with a new dose of their infectious fuzzy, vintage, pop-rock sound with ‘Jessie Met Jane’. The single comes with the announcement of the band’s anticipated upcoming EP ‘Big Break’.
With Irish frontman Seán Drury at the helm, alongside songwriting partner Oakley Gardiner, guitarist Gabe Rice, drummer Charlie Pringle, and bassist Cam Freeman, the band continues their upward trajectory. The new track, produced by Tom Rees (Buzzard Buzzard Buzzard, Panic Shack), encapsulates the band’s signature blend of fuzzy guitars, distorted vocals, and lo-fi production. ‘Jessie Met Jane’ balances upbeat energy with an undercurrent of mischief, weaving radiant, ear-catching melodies with raw urgency.
Drury’s sharp storytelling, inspired by an overheard argument during a chaotic night on tour, gives the song an imaginative narrative edge. “We all sort of went off on a long imaginative tangent about the three people arguing in the flat above,” Drury shares. “It was a heavy night, and I ended up writing a song about our deluded vision of their reality.”
Canned Pineapple’s live energy pulses through ‘Jessie Met Jane,’ a track that’s as much a reflection of their festival-ready charisma as it is a standalone earworm. Already in 2024, the band has electrified audiences with international performances at New York’s New Colossus Festival, a string of packed shows at The Great Escape, and a slot at the Netherlands’ Down The Rabbit Hole.
This autumn, Canned Pineapple continues their European circuit with performances at Left of the Dial in Rotterdam, Ireland Music Week in Dublin, and Fifty Lab in Brussels—primed to showcase more of their irresistible, scuzzy charm.
