Frank Lampard vs Liverpool’s arrogant bench
After Chelsea lost 5-3 at Liverpool, Frank Lampard had a pop at Liverpool’s bench.
Speaking to Sky Sports in his post match interview, Lampard accused some of Liverpool’s coaches of being arrogant. He said:
For me, it wasn’t a foul from (Mateo) Kovacic, and there were a lot of things that weren’t going our way. But I’ve not got a problem with Jurgen Klopp. The way he’s managed this team has been fantastic.
Fair play to Liverpool Football Club, they’ve won the league, but also don’t get too arrogant with it. That was my point, but it’s done. In match play, you can get emotional and that was it.
🗣 “There’s a fine line between winning & when you’ve won the league. Don’t get too arrogant with it”

Mateo Kovacic vs Sadio Mane
Lampard was referencing a foul which Liverpool won in the first half, which lead to Trent Alexander-Arnold’s brilliant free-kick goal, which was Liverpool’s second of the night.
The Reds won the spot kick after Sadio Mane hit the turf following a coming together with Mateo Kovacic.
Did Kovacic make contact with Mane and foul him? Lampard didn’t think so.
All kicked off on the two benches after foul/no foul on Mane from Kovacic. Pep Ljinders jumped up and shouted at Chelsea bench, Lampard and Klopp involved in 30-40 second verbal spat. Lots of effing and jeffing. Things a bit tense. And then the FK is converted.

What did Jurgen Klopp do?
According to BBC reporter Ben Ramsdale, after Alexander-Arnold scored the set-play, Jurgen Klopp made sure that his coaches didn’t overreact.
Klopp told his coaches to “calm down”.
Frank Lampard has had to be restrained by the fourth official on numerous occasions in the last few minutes. Really heated argument between him and a few on the Liverpool bench.
