On August 7, Stand Atlantic released their second album, Pink Elephant. This pop-punk band comes from Sydney, Australia, and this new record is a follow up to their debut album, Skinny Dipping, which came out in 2018.
Pink Elephant opens with âLike That,â a very catchy song that will have you singing along after the first time you hear it. âShh!â was released in February, and itâs one of those songs that makes you wish you were jumping around in a mosh pit at a pop-punk show. âBlurryâ was released a couple of days before the album dropped, and you can check out its music video here. It sounds a bit different compared to what youâd expect from the band, with sort of an indie rock vibe, but itâs definitely a song I want to listen to again and again.
The music video for âJurassic Parkâ was released in June, and you can view its music video here. This song perfectly represents Stand Atlanticâs sound, but it still manages to capture how theyâve matured since their last release. âWavelengthâ has a music video thatâs filled with clips from concerts and touring, and it makes me miss live music even more than I already do – which is a lot. Back in April, Stand Atlantic dropped a slow song, âDrink To Drown.â Its music video was filled with clips sent in from fans who were stuck at home in quarantine. Be prepared to tear up while watching this video.
Pink Elephant closes with âHate Me (Sometimes).â This was the first single off of the album, and it was released all the way back in September 2019. Its music video can be viewed here. This song sounds so good live, and I love how relatable the lyrics are. The chorus is repeated one last time at the end, making it perfect for the last track on the album, wrapping all 11 songs up.
Pink Elephant is an album that all pop-punk fans should check out. It may be a while until it can happen, but I definitely canât wait until Iâm able to see Stand Atlantic play these new songs live.
