Video: Liverpool’s Neco Williams assists key goal for Fulham

Neco Williams, currently on loan from Liverpool, played a key role in Fulham’s latest victory.

Williams, 20, joined Fulham on loan from Liverpool in the January transfer window.

Williams joined up with Fulham after making just one Premier League appearance in the first half of 2021/22.

The defender’s lack of action did make sense given that Trent Alexander-Arnold is Liverpool’s main right-back and he is one of the best in the world in that area.

But with Williams still young it was imperative that he went somewhere to earn some much needed playing time.

And at Fulham he has already begun to do that. The Welshman has started in Fulham’s last two league matches following the January window.

Vs Millwall he would provide an assist in a 3-0 win then, on Saturday, the young defender was instrumental in Fulham picking up all three points vs Hull – whipping in a superb cross to Aleksandar Mitrovic to score the only goal of the game.

Fulham set for promotion

After seeing off Hull, Fulham are six points clear of 2nd place Bournemouth.

The Cottagers are also a staggering 11 points clear of 3rd place Blackburn, who have played one more league game than Fulham.

So, barring an absolute collapse in the final few months of the season, it appears as though Fulham are set for a swift return to the Championship.

And though this is complete speculation at this point, if Williams continues to impress for Fulham and they are promoted, it would likely make sense for all parties that he is loaned back to them next term to get some more Premier League minutes under his belt.
