Updates on Adama Traore & Andre Gomes ahead of Wolves vs Everton

Fitness updates on the respective Wolves and Everton squads have been forthcoming this evening, ahead of this weekend’s meeting between the sides.

Wolves vs Everton

One of the standout ties of the upcoming round of Premier League fixtures will see Nuno Espirito Santo’s men welcome the Toffees to Molineux on Sunday evening.

The matchup comes as significantly more important for the former, with Wolves currently in the thick of the race for Europe.

The West Midlands-based outfit sit 6th in the English top-flight, a place which would, come the end of the campaign, see them secure Europa League football once again.

Damaging defeats at the hands of both Arsenal and Sheffield United over the course of the last week, though, mean that Wolves simply cannot afford more dropped points this weekend.

Everton, on the other hand, have little to play for over the season’s remaining weeks.

Carlo Ancelotti’s men sit 11th in the Premier League table, 4 points off the top-half, and on the back of just a point from their last 2 outings.

Traore latest

As outlined above, meanwhile, ahead of Sunday’s Molineux showdown, fitness updates on both squads have this evening been forthcoming.

First up was Carlo Ancelotti, with the Toffees boss having confirmed that both Andre Gomes and Mason Holgate face late fitness tests:

‘It’s not a big problem, he (Gomes) had a knock on his ankle, today it was a little bit stiff.’

‘We hope tomorrow he can train and play on Sunday.’

On Holgate, Ancelotti added:

‘The same (for) Holgate. I think he can train tomorrow and we will check tomorrow’

Next up was Nuno Espirito Santo, with the major talking point surrounding Wolves’ squad having centered on Adama Traore.

Explosive wide-man Traore dislocated his shoulder for the 4th time this season during his side’s defeat to Sheffield United on Wednesday.

And the latest news on the Spaniard this evening was not exactly encouraging, with Nuno having confirmed that Traore is in doubt to feature versus Everton in 2 days’ time:

‘We have some issues – one of them is Adama [Traore]. We still have the training session of Saturday to reassess all the situations. Some knocks, normal things that happen in football, so let’s wait to see how things are.’

The news on Pedro Neto, though, was more positive:

‘He’s better [Pedro Neto]. He trained yesterday with the fitness coach and was able to do some things. We still have one day to assess.’
