With the end of the year looming, it’s a good time to look back at what 2024 gave us. There’s been a lot of different releases that we’ve all experienced over the months, and it is interesting to look back at what there’s been in a busy year. In March there was the Mark Knopfler’s Guitar Heroes release of Going Home (Theme From Local Hero), which included David Gilmour amongst around 60 musicians. April saw the lovely looking crystal clear vinyl of The Dark Side Of The Moon, with UV artwork. Later that month, Roger Waters released a picture disc of his Redux version of TDSOTM as part of Record Store Day. May brought us the Animals 2018 Remix on Blu-ray and on digital platforms, bringing the 1977 album to life in multi channel gloriousness. This was presented with new artwork from the launch of the Animals 2018 remix, showing how Battersea Power Station is used these days for such promotions. June saw the start of the 35-date Set The Controls tour from Nick Mason’s Saucerful Of Secrets, thrilling audiences in the UK and Europe, and getting better and better as a band. Let’s hope that there’s more next year! The DVD, Blu-ray and digital release of Have You Got It Yet? The Story Of Syd Barrett and Pink Floyd was released in July, following the 2023 cinema screenings. Of course, in September, we saw the release of the hotly anticipated Luck And Strange from David Gilmour, which was accompanied from later that month with live shows in Brighton and London, England, Rome, Italy, Los Angeles and New York, USA. Dates in Rome were filmed with the aim to release at some point, and once we have details of that, we’ll let you know! David also contributed a guitar solo for Ice-T’s band Body Count on their cover version of Comfortably Numb (a very unexpected collaboration!). David’s team have also edited together footage from each city of the tour to construct a live version of The Piper’s Call, released as a pre-Christmas treat. Finally, to conclude the year, there’s been another release of a bunch of live Pink Floyd concerts to be found on platforms such as Spotify (https://open.spotify.com/artist/0k17h0D3J5VfsdmQ1iZtE9?si=jRkN8zT1TqWovrf0sObizw) for a limited period. There’s thirteen gigs in total, all from 1974, and definitely worth checking out…

Reminder: Limited blue vinyl 25th anniversary 2LP of Pink Floyd’s The Division Bell
Pink Floyd’s The Division Bell, a limited release of the album in translucent blue, heavyweight vinyl as a 2LP set, is coming on June 7th, 2019 (http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B07QJ5WRF1/braindamage-21). It echoes the original limited blue vinyl release by Columbia Records in 1994. It will be joining the other albums released by the band’s new label – Pink Floyd Records – and will bear catalogue number PFRLP 31. Featuring the 2014 master by James Guthrie, Joel Plante and the late Doug Sax of the Mastering Lab, California, it comes as a double LP (as did the 2014 black vinyl release) to ensure all the songs are presented in full. The original 1994 single vinyl release required the songs to be edited to fit. As expected, the packaging is of high quality again; the records are housed in a gatefold sleeve with four different images of specially-created heads, and two full-colour lyric/image inner bags. On its original release, the album debuted at number 1 in the UK, US, Australian and New Zealand album charts, reaching the top spot in six other countries, and to date has sold over 12 million copies. At the time, David Gilmour said: The three of us went into Britannia Row Studios, and improvised for two weeks. Playing together and starting from scratch was interesting and exciting, it kick-started the album and the process was very good, it was collaborative and felt more cohesive. Have You Got It Yet? The Story of Syd Barrett & Pink Floyd – DVD/Blu-ray/Digital
Just announced: the DVD and Blu-ray, and digital release, of Have You Got It Yet? The Story of Syd Barrett and Pink Floyd is coming on July 19th, 2024. The critically acclaimed – and fan acclaimed – documentary film Have You Got It Yet? is a compelling dive
into the life and genius of Syd. Directed by award-winning filmmaker Roddy Bogawa and the late, acclaimed album cover designer Storm Thorgerson, the feature length documentary drew praise for its candid glimpse into the prismatic character and artistry of Pink Floyd founder Syd Barrett. Released in cinemas worldwide in Summer 2023, Have You Got It Yet? achieved a 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, as well as a successful theatrical run with many sold-out screenings. Intimate interviews with band members David Gilmour, Nick Mason, and Roger Waters uncover Barrett’s ongoing impact on the group. Going a step further, the film also includes an interview with Syd’s sister, Rosemary Breen. Narrated by actor Jason Isaacs, the film also features original band managers Peter Jenner and Andrew King, as well as The Who’s Pete Townshend and Blur’s Graham Coxon. In addition to the full-length film, the joint DVD and Blu-ray set includes a plethora of bonus features. Two poignant live performances of Arnold Layne are highlighted â the first features David Gilmour David Bowie (originally released in Gilmour’s Remember That Night Live At The Royal Albert Hall, 2007). The second is a performance from 2007’s The Madcap’s Last Laugh â a tribute concert held at London’s Barbican for Syd Barrett featuring Gilmour, Mason, and Richard Wright in their
final performance as Pink Floyd. Additionally, the DVD and Blu-ray includes an interview with Bogawa and director producer commentary of the film with Bogawa, Rupert Truman, and Julius Beltrame. Further exploring his creative works, the set features discussions surrounding Barrett’s paintings, and spoken word performances of Barrett’s lyrics by comedian Noel Fielding (Dark Globe), poet Rob Fitterman (Rats) and actor Gerard Bell (Lucifer Sam). The package, designed by StormStudios, is completed with an exclusive Have You Got It Yet? poster, which was also designed by the studio. Ordering details will follow here shortly – we’ll update this story accordingly. The documentary is a fascinating and moving look at Barrett and we heartily recommend it. It’s great news that it is finally getting a physical/digital release, enabling those who are yet to see it, the opportunity.
