La Liga reportedly set to return on June 11th/All fixtures to be available for Sky customers

A pair of significant updates regarding the resumption of the La Liga campaign have been forthcoming online this evening.

As the COVID-19 crisis continues to wreak havoc on events around the globe, football has of course been at a near standstill since March.

In Europe, Belarus, for almost two months, stood as the only country in which top-flight football continued to be played, with the Champions League and Europa League having also been postponed.

Recent weeks, however, have seen positive steps taken towards the resumption of a number of the continent’s top leagues.

Germany of course represents the standard-bearer as things stand, after the Bundesliga got back underway two weekends ago.

Plans for the return of both the Premier League and Serie A in June, meanwhile, have also been forthcoming, with an update on the status of the latter having actually arrived earlier today:

La Liga’s imminent restart

As outlined above, though, the English top-flight is not the only major division to have received positive news regarding a return to action over the course of the last few hours.

An announcement on the part of La Liga’s officials last weekend revealed that professional sport in Spain had been ‘permitted to get back underway behind closed doors from the 8th of June.’

It had nevertheless, though, since remained unclear exactly when the top two tiers of Spanish football were set to resume.

But, if the latest word stemming from the media is to be believed, then a date has today officially been decided on.

As per a report from Carrusal Deportivo, a meeting this morning saw June 11th pinpointed as the ideal restart date for La Liga.

President Javier Tebas is said to have green-lighted such plans, with a Sevilla derby clash two weeks from today set to get proceedings back underway.

The campaign’s finale, meanwhile, is set to come on the 19th of July.

A further report in the English media, meanwhile, has provided yet more positive news for La Liga fans across the United Kingdom.

According to the Mirror, Sky TV customers will have full access to ‘all live matches’ for the remainder of the season:

‘La Liga and its broadcast partner Premier Sports will announce this week that all live matches will be made available for Sky TV customers.’
