Friday’s Finest – Featuring: Banfi, SAUCE & Yard Arms

Boris Johnson told us that ‘if your friends ask you to meet, you should say no’, but if your friends ask you to listen to these Friday’s Finest bad boys, then you should most definitely agree to that.

Dan from Turtle Tempo’s pick: Banfi – So Bright

Banfi is a project by singer-songwriter and producer Joe Banfi and he treats us all with alt-pop goodness in new single ‘So Bright’, one of two singles recently released to tease before dropping second album ‘Colour Waits in the Dark’ on May 22nd.

Fred from It’s All Indie’s pick: SAUCE – All of Us

SAUCE have shared their animated video for their thrilling new cut, “All of Us”. The quartet are based out of Manchester and you can really hear that from the off, as every band that comes out of the city these days have a massive presence in their recorded work, and Sauce are one of those bands. Having formed back in 2016 in Salford the band has has a slight change to their line-up, but as of today it sounds like they’ve really found their sound.

Their influences range from the cult heroes of the 2000’s such as Arctic Monkeys and Kasabian to those like Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath – maybe that’s where they get their chunky guitar sound from!

With soaring vocals, chunky basslines and thick guitar riffs the foursome make a lot more sound than what it may look like on the surface, “All of Us” is a absolutely thrilling cut that really will rise above the rest of the new bands in Manchester.

The video is about escapism and depicts the band being sent on a wild ride to the moon in a rocket powered car, which is something we all kinda want at the moment, escapism. This may be the perfect track for you to blow away some of your cobwebs if you need to thrash your hair about. So be sure to check out the visual for “All of Us” and give the band a follow on socials, we’re definitely going to wanna check them out when they’re playing live.

Michael from Nexus Music Blog’s pick: Yard Arms – Mantra

You want something new? Something soulful? Something fresh? Of course you do! That’s three of many reasons to get your ears around the latest track ‘Mantra’ by Yard Arms.

‘Mantra’ is soft to the ears. With a welcome and gloriously unapologetic, melodious undertone that surfaces most notably in the chorus. Culminating in a swell of vocals that project a sense of dreamy and characterful tonality. I’m not sure that any track which has passed through our inbox has had as much re-playability in recent weeks as this one. ‘Mantra’ feels like a release that will be both pivotal and decisive in continuing to excel Yard Arms and project them to a deserved wider audience.

No strangers to being praised for their music, the duo is made up of Noah Villeneuve (Vocals , Guitar) and Billy Golding (Drums). Yard Arms have seen an incredibly swift rise, with huge thanks to content such as ‘Mantra’. Previously headlining a Rough Trade appearance for Record Store Day and being thrown additional exposure by BBC Introducing, it is hard to see the band going anyway but up.
