Borussia Dortmund sensation Erling Haaland continued to etch his name further into the history books of European football this evening, en route to victory over Sevilla.
Dortmund advance
BVB faced off with Julen Lopetegui’s men a short time ago, in the 2nd-leg of the Champions League Last-16 showdown between the clubs.
It was hosts Dortmund who headed into proceedings boasting the advantage, on the back of a hard-fought 3-2 win in Andalusia three weeks ago.
Erling Haaland unsurprisingly proved the star of the show at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan, bagging a brace before half-time to add to Mahmoud Dahoud’s early opener.
And, when all was said and done this evening, it was world football’s most in-demand young hitman who made the difference once again.
Another action-packed affair, during which both sides had chances to add to their respective tallies, eventually saw Dortmund emerge on the right side of a 2-1 scoreline.
That man Haaland opened the scoring 10 minutes before the interval, slotting home from close range after being teed up by Marco Reus:
“Marco Reus sets it up and you know who does the rest!”

And the Norwegian was back at it again early in the 2nd-half, rifling home from close range on the back of a wild chain of events at Signal Iduna Park:
TWENTY goals in the Champions League already for Erling Haaland! 🔥
He’s now the quickest player in #UCL history to hit the 20-goal mark – beating Harry Kane who did it in 24 appearances!

Sevilla, to their credit, did manage to pull back two goals of their own through Youssef En-Nesyri, but the damage had long been done.
Historic Haaland
In turn, on the back of the action coming to a close in Dortmund, it has since come as little surprise to see the name of one player – in the form of Erling Haaland – take centre stage in the post-match chatter.
The 20-year-old, despite his tender years, continues to prove himself as one of, if not the most deadly striker in Europe on an almost weekly basis.
As outlined above, though, Haaland’s latest telling contribution did not only prove significant in guiding BVB to the Champions League’s final-8.
It also saw the Norwegian international, on an individual basis, etch his name deep into the competition’s history books.
After netting his 2nd of the night, it was revealed that Haaland has absolutely blitzed the record for fastest to 20 goals in the competition’s history, a full 10 games sooner than previous holder Harry Kane:

🥈 Kane: 24 matches

Not only that, but the former Salzburg star is also the first player to ever score 2 or more goals in four-straight appearances in the Champions League:
