David Moyes claims West Ham didn’t make £12m bid for Matty Cash

West Ham knocked out of FA Cup

West Ham played host to Championship high-flyers West Brom on Saturday as they looked to progress to the FA Cup 5th round.

The Hammers league form has been rather dire this season with the London outfit teetering above the relegation zone.

So, a cup victory may have been just what West Ham needed to reignite their season.

David Moyes would put out a fairly strong starting eleven on Saturday with the likes of Declan Rice, Issa Diop and Sebastien Haller all in from the get-go.

Despite their strong line-up, West Ham fell behind inside nine minutes and were unable to overturn the one-goal deficit, even though West Brom went down to 10 men for the final 18 minutes or so.

David Moyes on Nottingham Forest’s Matty Cash

After the tie, David Moyes would hold his post-match press conference, in which he was quizzed about Nottingham Forest’s Matty Cash.

It was reported earlier this week that West Ham had bid £12m for the Forest star.

However, when asked about said bid, Moyes stated that whilst he believes West Ham have made some enquiries about Cash, he was not aware of any £12m bid being made:

Can you confirm there was a £15m offer from Milan? Or was it just speculation. In my understanding we did not make a £12m bid for Matty Cash. I think we have made some enquiries but as far as I know we did not make any offer whatsoever.” As quoted by football.london.

Cash has scored two and assisted four in 27 league outings from the right-back spot this term.
