“Get Lucas in the bin” – Some THFC fans react as Spurs make approach for player “similar to Son”

Tottenham fans have taken to Twitter to react after Sky Sports confirmed that an approach has been made to PSV Eindhoven for the services of Steven Bergwijn.

The forward was left out of the squad to face FC Twente on Sunday, with the 22-year-old now looking likely to join the north Londoners in a deal that would see Jose Mourinho’s attack strengthened – a move for Bergwijn, however, will not impact the club’s hunt for a new striker.

The 22-year-old attacker has been capped nine times by the Netherlands national team, while he managed to net 15 goals and record 13 assists in all competitions last season as he came face to face with Tottenham in the Champions League Group Stage.

This term, the PSV No.10 has scored six goals while amassing 13 assists.

The Eredivisie outfit tied their exciting forward down to a new four-year contract back in August, although discussions are seemingly underway with Tottenham which would see him depart the club just months after putting pen to paper.

Let’s see how the Tottenham fans on Twitter reacted to the news…

To kick off the reaction, Max said that Bergwijn would be a “quality signing” before comparing him to Heung-min Son in the way that he can play anywhere across the front three – his main position is on the left-wing, although Transfermarkt state that he can operate at centre-forward and also on the right.

Elsewhere, these three supporters all seemed to think that Bergwijn’s potential arrival would see the end of Lucas Moura.

Ant said “lovely” after hearing the news, before adding “get Lucas in the bin” – harsh.

Joe and Sam then both said “no more Lucas” before using an emoji and a GIF to express their happiness.

Lastly, these two fans seemed excited by the transfer report.

Cameron said that he’s “all over this Bergwijn deal”, adding that the Dutchman has “pace, power and skill” and “would be a lovely addition”.

Someone’s got to own them: Who do these incredibly unwanted PL records belong to?

Jack then mentioned that the PSV man and Krzysztof Piątek – who has been linked with a move – arriving in north London would make him “very happy”.
