Beneath The Surface: The Ocean Deep

Welcome to another instalment of Beneath The Surface! Today we are joined by the lovely, The Ocean Deep. So grab a snack, take a quick break and let’s dig into this easily digestible, tasty little morsel of an interview.

What would you say first sparked your interest in music/who inspired you to make music?
JeremyI was a skateboarder and started listening to punk rock and there were a few musicians in town. And I loved Linkin Park so much.

JustinMetallica then it went to Senses Fail and Underoath.

How would you describe the music you are currently creating?
No idea. We honestly have no idea what genre it is. We take a lot of our influences and put them together and have created our writing formula. Heavy guitars, real drums, programmed drums, touch of 80s, metal, pop punk. So to sum up, still not sure.

What does your creative process look like?
A lot of the times we show up to the studio and just mess around. Then if we write a cool synth or guitar part we will get super excited and start creating around that part.

Who would you most like to collaborate with? (let’s send it out to the universe and make it happen!)
JeremyDriveways
JustinAlex Gaskarth from All Time Low

What is the one message you would like to send out to your fans?
Hopefully will still create stuff you like and we can’t wait until we get on the road so we can meet everyone.

What’s your top tip to rejuvenate your creativity/get over a writer’s block?
Take a break from music and just enjoy life for a few days. Just don’t do it and don’t think about it for a little bit.

What’s next for you, what do we have to look forward to/ what are you currently working on?
We have a plethora of singles just waiting to be released and we are planning on booking shows as things start to open back up. Just enjoying interacting with everyone and want to play for them.
