Aaron Ramsey to Newcastle shouts mount following starring display for Wales

Calls for Newcastle United to launch a January move for Juventus star Aaron Ramsey have moved up a notch on Friday evening.

Czech Republic 2-2 Wales

Ramsey was of course back in action a short time ago.

This came as Wales made the trip to Prague, for a World Cup qualifying showdown with the Czech Republic.

Robert Page’s men headed into proceedings aware that a positive result was a must, to ensure that ground was not lost on the Czechs in the race for 2nd spot in the Group E table.

And, when all was said and done at the Eden Arena, the Dragons, to their credit, managed to emerge with a credible share of the spoils.

A pulsating 90 minutes ultimately played out into a 2-2 draw, after the hosts’ turnaround either side of half-time was cancelled out courtesy of a fine finish on the part of Dan James:

It was not James, despite his equaliser eventually proving telling, who in fact went on to take the headlines in the post-match chatter, however.

Instead, this honour was reserved for Welsh captain Aaron Ramsey.

A central role in Danny Ward’s costly own goal aside, midfield all-rounder Ramsey proved hugely impressive across the 90 minutes tonight, looking full of guile and vigour when on the ball, and running and endeavour without it.

The 30-year-old’s most telling contribution came late in the first-half, when Ramsey showcased wonderful composure to take the ball under control, before slotting home the game’s opener in style:

St. James’ bound?

And, as outlined above, the latest fine display on the part of Wales’ talisman has since set tongues wagging, when it comes to Ramsey’s future.

The ex-Arsenal man continues to represent something of a peripheral figure at Serie A heavyweights Juventus, a situation which looks unlikely to change any time soon under Max Allegri.

In turn, viewers of Friday’s action, both of a Magpies persuasion and not, have taken to social media in their numbers, to call for newly-minted Newcastle United to launch a January swoop to bring Ramsey back to the Premier League:
