It has already been a great season for Chelsea’s youngsters, even after just nine games in all competitions.
The headlines have generally been made by Mason Mount, Tammy Abraham and Fikayo Tomori. All three have featured heavily already during this campaign, and each one has managed to get themselves on the score-sheet at least once as well.
In the last game, against Grimsby Town in the League Cup, it got even better for the club’s academy. Four players who have come from the south-west London outfit’s development squad started the match, and they were joined later on by Faustino Anjorin and Ian Maatsen as well.
The team’s youth system has been successful in recent years, at least from a results point of view, and now it is finally producing players for the senior side. It appears to have attracted the interest of production companies too, with it being reported by The Telegraph that several have contacted Chelsea in regards to a documentary.
