Video: Olivier Giroud nets with first touch in AC Milan’s colours

New AC Milan striker Olivier Giroud this evening got his career in the club’s colours off to the most ideal start imaginable.

Maldini and co. hard at work

French international Giroud of course represents just one of a whole host of arrivals on the red half of Milan thus far this summer.

After securing a long-awaited return to the Champions League, those in a position of power at the San Siro have gone about adding much-needed depth to the club’s ranks, ahead of a testing campaign to come.

To this point, all of Mike Maignan, Fode Ballo-Toure, Fikayo Tomori and Sandro Tonali have arrived on a permanent basis, whilst the loan of Brahim Diaz from Real Madrid has too been extended.

Giroud’s long-awaited arrival, meanwhile, was made official a fortnight ago, after a deal was struck with Chelsea for an altogether minimal fee:

Dream debut

Unlike others to have become Rossonero this summer, though, Giroud was not handed his debut until earlier this evening.

Milan were back in action a short time ago, making the trip to France for a friendly meeting with Ligue 1 outfit OGC Nice.

And, when all was said and done at the Allianz Riviera, it was the visitors’ latest attacking addition who ensured that Stefano Pioli’s men emerged with a credible 1-1 draw.

Nice took the lead in the clash on the stroke of the hour mark, when Amine Gouiri slotted home from the penalty spot.

Just minutes later, though, that man Giroud was introduced off the bench. And, remarkably, with his first touch of not only the evening, but his AC Milan career as a whole, the World Cup winner went on to level things up, courtesy of a trademark header:
