Roy Hodgson is one of the most polarising managers in English football.
To some, he is a genius. You’d be hard-pressed to find a Fulham or Crystal Palace fan with a bad thing to say about him.
However, in the eyes of many Liverpool fans, he’s one of the worst managers they’ve ever had.
It’s hard to argue that point either. He didn’t last long at Anfield, and when he was sacked Liverpool were in the bottom half, a sorry state for a club of that size.

However, perhaps it wasn’t all Hodgson’s fault. Almost nine years on from his sacking at Anfield, club legend Jamie Carragher may have changed a few opinions with this tweet…
Poor Roy!
— Jamie Carragher (@Carra23) September 16, 2019
The Sky Sports pundit was sent a starting XI from Hodgson’s tenure in charge of the Anfield outfit, and it’s fair to say that the quality of the team was sub-par.
Fair play to Carragher, he’s been honest in his opinion of the side that played under Hodgson, and he’s shown sympathy towards his former manager. It’s a far cry from the loaded XI that Jurgen Klopp has built in recent years.
