The headline news in the footballing world on Monday is, of course, that Chelsea have parted ways with manager Frank Lampard:

Lampard’s dismissal comes just a day after the Londoners downed Luton Town in the FA Cup.
Chelsea’s league form, though, has of course proven pretty dire for some time now. They have managed just one win in five, leaving the Blues sitting in 9th spot in the Premier League table.
The majority of the club’s summer signings, meanwhile, particularly Kai Havertz and Timo Werner, have also been majorly under-performing over the last couple of months.
Thiago Silva’s message to Lampard
On the back of Lampard’s dismissal, Thiago Silva, who made the move to Stamford Bridge over the summer, has since sent a heartfelt message to his now ex-boss:
I would like to thank you for everything you and your committee have done for me since the day I arrived. As I told you, it seemed like we had been working together for 10 years!! Thank you very much for everything legend.

In terms of potential successors to Lampard, former PSG boss Thomas Tuchel has this evening been touted as the favourite to take the job, with transfer expert Fabrizio Romano having gone as far as to claim that the German’s arrival is expected to be announced imminently:
