The latest appearance racked up by Sergio Busquets in Barcelona’s meeting with Real Sociedad on Thursday has seen the midfield icon etch his name ever further into the history books of the club.
The Blaugrana are of course currently locked in action.
On the back of an alarming dip in form of late, culminating in a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Cadiz last time out, Xavi Hernandez’s troops made the trip to Anoeta, for a La Liga meeting with the aforementioned Sociedad.
In search of a much-needed bounce-back result, Xavi unsurprisingly opted for experience, with Busquets afforded his latest start in the middle of the park.
And, in the process of taking to the pitch, the Blaugrana’s captain climbed into third on the club’s all-time appearances list.
Busquets has now featured for Barca on a whopping 675 occasions, one more appearance than was managed by fellow icon and former midfield partner in crime Andres Iniesta.
The Spanish international now sits behind only Lionel Messi and manager Xavi on the list.

Auba on target again
Turning attentions towards the action at Anoeta itself on Thursday evening, as things stand, the visitors look well on their way towards a return to winning ways.
This comes after a sustained spell of pressure culminated in Barcelona taking the lead in proceedings courtesy of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who managed to get on the end of Ferran Torres’ clever ball to the back post, to nod into an empty Sociedad net:
