Ole Gunnar Solskjaer hints at rotation changes vs Crystal Palace but not because of the Chelsea game

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer hints at rotation changes vs Crystal Palace

After drawing 2-2 at home against Southampton on Monday, Man United are back in action on Thursday at Crystal Palace.

United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer revealed in his pre-Palace presser on Wednesday that he’s likely to rotate his team for the trip to Selhurst Park.

Solskjaer said that “one or two fresh legs” could come into the side. OGS also revealed that some Man United have injury niggles:

There were a couple of doubts before Southampton but they all reported fit on the day.

Hopefully we can give them time now, not having to leave players out because of injury.

Unfortunately, Solskjaer didn’t elaborate on which players are carrying knocks.

Solskjaer won’t change his team because of the Chelsea game

After Crystal Palace, Man United have an FA Cup semi-final against Chelsea on Sunday.

During the press conference, Solskjaer was pressed on whether the upcoming Chelsea game would play any factor in his team selection at Palace. Solskjaer said no:

The team selection for Thursday is based on Thursday, not Sunday. Sunday is irrelevant – doesn’t come into my head at all.

Who will play at left-back for Man United vs Crystal Palace?

Solskjaer has a specific issue before the Palace game: who will play at left-back.

Against Southampton, Brandon Williams picked up an eye injury while Luke Shaw was forced to leave the game after an ankle injury.

In a vague update on the health of his left-backs, Solskjaer said:

Luke has got a swollen ankle, I’ll give him as much time as possible to recover, it was twisted. Brandon cut up his eye.

I don’t really know. None of them trained yesterday. I’ll give them as much time as possible to let the swelling go away.

What does Solskjaer think about Man City’s appeal win vs UEFA?

The Man United manager largely dodged the topic of talking about Man City’s legal victory at the Court of Arbitration in Sport. OGS said:

Well, I think other people can debate that and they want to debate that.

I don’t think that’s my job. My job is to make sure that we focus on the next game and that we just do the right things.

But with Financial Fair Play, it was brought into keep football and football clubs financially sustainable. I think that’s important.

They also give us rules to adhere to. That’s what we’re focusing on.

Let other people discuss what’s right and wrong and what’s happened.
