In a move which should come as no surprise to anyone, it has just been announced that the 2021 UK tour of Nick Mason’s Saucerful Of Secrets has had to move due to the current pandemic affecting people the world over. The dates have all moved from April/May this year to the same period next year (2022). In the announcement, the band apologise “for any inconvenience these changes might cause; the band are desperate to perform, but have to ensure the experience is a safe one for everyone!” It makes perfect sense to postpone the shows now, giving people some notice, rather than holding on and hoping that the vaccination rollout proceeds at pace, AND that the virus recedes so that shows can take place. We would be amazed to see any shows take place for a while. Obviously, there were European dates scheduled for May – July, but at this stage, there’s no official word on what might be happening with those – or indeed, if there are any plans for shows elsewhere, a question we get frequently. We’re sure most people are aware of how moved shows work now – keep hold of your tickets as they are automatically valid for the new dates, and there’s no need to contact whoever you bought your tickets through to get new ones, or confirm attendance at the new date. Here’s the details of the revised dates: 16 April (https://www.brain-damage.co.uk/nick-mason-s-sos-2022/april-16th-barbican-york-england-resched.html) Barbican, York, England Richard Wright ‘Wet Dream’ reissue with Steven Wilson remix release details
Some great news has been announced this afternoon, following some online rumours and speculation – Richard Wrightâs debut solo album, Wet Dream, is to be reissued on vinyl for the first time since its original release in 1978 – this time in deep blue transparent marbled vinyl. It will also be available on streaming platforms for the first time ever including a new Dolby Atmos mix, on CD and on blu-ray which includes a 5.1 mix and never before released personal images and videos from around this period of his life. To be released on July 28th – the date that would have been his 80th birthday – it will initially be made available on CD and all streaming platforms, with the vinyl and blu-ray editions of the record being released on September 29th. Remixed by Steven Wilson, this reissue comes with brand new artwork that was commissioned and art-directed by Gala and Jamie Wright, Richard’s children and managers of his estate. As per the original release, the bi-fold sleeve folds out to extend the image and features the same vibrant colour palette. This time, the unidentified person in bright red shorts is swimming within deep blue waters of the sea rather than a pool and the image expands out to reveal a boat slightly out of their reach, referencing the nautical theme of the record. The image was taken by Costas Spathis, a photographer living and working in Greece, which is where the album was written and the graphic design is by Carl Glover. The original artwork was designed by Storm Thorgerson and photographed by Audrey Powell for Hipgnosis and features in the vinyl booklet. Upon rediscovering this record, it becomes hugely apparent how much of Richard’s DNA runs through Pink Floyd. His distinct rhythm patterns, song structure and style of play exudes throughout, shining a light on his unique talent and influence on modern music. When originally released, post Pink Floyd’s Animals (1977) and shortly before 1979’s The Wall, Wet Dream was largely under-appreciated. Steven Wilson’s mix is designed to give new life to the record demonstrating Wright’s brilliance. Richard wrote and produced the whole album himself and it was one of only three albums he released outside of Pink Floyd, the others being Broken China, from 1996, and Identity, released in 1983 under the guise of Zee, a duet with Dave Harris from Fashion. The Blu-ray edition of Wet Dream includes the Dolby Atmos mIx, a 5.1 surround mix (DTS-HD Master Audio 96/24), the new stereo mix in Hi-Res Audio (96/24), and exclusive personal videos along with a photo gallery. It’s housed in a book format with collectable postcards and an 8-page booklet. Here’s a first taste of the album: ORDERING INFORMATION:

David Gilmour guitars: Christies, London – book viewing slot now
As you know, Christie’s New York is handling the upcoming sale of a significant chunk of the personal guitar collection of David Gilmour. With more than 120 guitars, including his preferred Fender models of Broadcasters, Esquires, Telecasters and Stratocasters, the auction on 20th June marks a rare opportunity for guitar aficionados, musicians and collectors to explore one of the world’s most comprehensive groupings of guitars that hooked a generation. As we noted, prior to the sale, the entire David Gilmour Collection will be on display at Christie’s London between 27th – 31st March, followed by highlights of the collection on display in Los Angeles from 7th – 11th May, and will conclude with a full preview in New York from 14th – 19th June. You can book your viewing slot for the London staging now – visit this page at Christie’s website to select your preferred time (https://a.flexbooker.com/widget/34ee144d-e3ee-4663-83b3-101464fd20a7?fbclid=IwAR2MllKSAB_jr3k5oZXI21WgMw6AQaBnXcREHn-C7iQN-u80xGpEm6WbfKI#calendar). Reservations are free of charge, but necessarily limited to reduce congestion, so don’t delay. At time of writing this, most time slots are still available, although some of the later slots each day are gone. For those unable to attend, the auction house had created an incredible virtual tour of the upcoming George Michael collection – hopefully they will create the same for David’s guitars… We have no idea if photography will be permitted at the viewing (a question we’ve had a number of times already) although if you pre-order the catalogue for The David Gilmour Guitar Collection, direct from Christies (https://catalogues.christies.com/christies-shop/Product.aspx?offerId=52694), you should have great pictures of every item on offer. The catalogues are priced at £30/$50/€45 each plus postage, and please note that catalogues will not be despatched until the week commencing 13th May, so it is unlikely to be available to purchase at the London or LA preview events.
