In a move which should come as no surprise to anyone, it has just been announced that the 2021 UK tour of Nick Mason’s Saucerful Of Secrets has had to move due to the current pandemic affecting people the world over. The dates have all moved from April/May this year to the same period next year (2022). In the announcement, the band apologise “for any inconvenience these changes might cause; the band are desperate to perform, but have to ensure the experience is a safe one for everyone!” It makes perfect sense to postpone the shows now, giving people some notice, rather than holding on and hoping that the vaccination rollout proceeds at pace, AND that the virus recedes so that shows can take place. We would be amazed to see any shows take place for a while. Obviously, there were European dates scheduled for May – July, but at this stage, there’s no official word on what might be happening with those – or indeed, if there are any plans for shows elsewhere, a question we get frequently. We’re sure most people are aware of how moved shows work now – keep hold of your tickets as they are automatically valid for the new dates, and there’s no need to contact whoever you bought your tickets through to get new ones, or confirm attendance at the new date. Here’s the details of the revised dates: 16 April (https://www.brain-damage.co.uk/nick-mason-s-sos-2022/april-16th-barbican-york-england-resched.html) Barbican, York, England On November 19th, 2021, a new album from Jools Holland is released, featuring a song with David Gilmour. The album, Pianola. Piano Friends is described as a “loving tribute to the black and white keys, celebrating the community and conviviality that the piano inspires and the spark of Jools’ deep love for music. The album showcases the vibrant versatility and virtuosity of Jools Holland and his lifelong friend, along with a truly unique line-up of some of the world’s greatest artists: Rick Wakeman; David Gilmour; Ruby Turner; Herbie Hancock; Booker T.; Tom Jones; Gregory Porter; Mousse T.; YolanDa Brown; Dr. John; Joe Bonamassa; Trombone Shorty and more…” Recorded through the lockdown period and from many corners of the world, the album has been produced by multi-instrumentalist Nitin Sawhney and Jools’ longtime producer Laurie Latham. Jools said: “I’m humbled to have made this record with the greatest instrumental and vocal artists of our day. And so grateful to my lifelong friend the piano for making it possible.” David features on track 5, Blues For The End Of TIme, which features “sonic space design” By Dhani Harrison (no, we’re not totally sure what this is, either!). To order the album, you can do so from the following Amazon stores thus helping Brain Damage with a much needed contribution towards site running costs, at no extra cost to you! You will also have the advantage of the Amazon Price Promise where you automatically pay the lowest price they charge between the time you order something, and release. The album isn’t currently being listed on Amazon’s US and Canadian stores, but other stores will ship worldwide, so worth considering them if you wish to add this to your collection.
