We've got an update on the forthcoming 2020 UK tour of Nick Mason's Saucerful Of Secrets (nick-mason-s-sos-2020/index.php), which was unsurprisingly postponed due to the Coronavirus/COVID-19 pandemic, which has resulted in all public events being moved or cancelled. The remaining UK show to be rescheduled was the date at Southampton's Mayflower Theatre, due to be held on Monday, May 4th (nick-mason-s-sos-2020/may-4th-mayflower-theatre-southampton-en.html). This has now moved to sit with the other Saucers' dates, and will now take place on Sunday, October 18th.For those with tickets already, these will remain valid for the new date, and will not require changing. You do not need to contact the venue, or take any other action. The Dublin gig, which was due to take place next week on April 29th, has been postponed as well (obviously) but as yet, the revised date has not been confirmed. The same applies to the European dates which were to follow the UK and Ireland performances. It must be a really difficult job to reschedule a tour to new dates, fitting in with potentially pre-existing bookings for the venues in question, whilst also keeping the travel schedule for the band, crew and equipment to as sensible a route as is possible.

Happy birthday, David Gilmour!
Our very best wishes, and many happy returns, to David Gilmour who is celebrating his 74th birthday today (March 6th)! Born and raised in Cambridge, David became involved with various bands in the area, principally Jokers Wild who were a popular draw when they played, before joining Pink Floyd in 1968. More recent years have seen David concentrating on his solo career, and helping out chums on their musical projects on an ad hoc basis. Last year, some 120+ of David's guitars were auctioned, raising $21.5 million (including some record-breaking amounts for individual instruments) which went to the environmental charity ClientEarth. He also appeared as a guest performer at the Richard Thompson 70th Birthday Concert (latest/david-gilmour-guest-appearance-at-richard-thompson-70th-birthday-co.html), playing Dimming Of The Day and Fat Old Sun, and joining the encore. More recently (February 25th) he joined the stellar bill for the Mick Fleetwood Friends Celebrate The Music of Peter Green and The Early Years of Fleetwood Mac (latest/mick-fleetwood-friends-concert-box-set-available-to-orde.html) concert at London's Palladium, which is being released as a 4LP, 2CD, Blu-ray and book box set this year (latest/mick-fleetwood-friends-concert-box-set-available-to-orde.html). The concert was in aid of the Teenage Cancer Trust charity. Finally, at the end of this month, and the start of next, David is joining his wife Polly Samson for three special evenings to mark the release of her new book, A Theatre For Dreamers, which will see David performing a few songs including a new one (latest/polly-samson-and-david-gilmour-a-theatre-for-dreamers-book-and-music-e.html). Tickets for these three events, in Manchester, Birmingham, and London, are available now (latest/polly-samson-and-david-gilmour-a-theatre-for-dreamers-book-and-music-e.html).It just remains for us to wish David a very happy day! Interview with Rosemary Breen, Syd Barrett’s sister
Pink Floyd book author and friend of Brain Damage, Ian Priston, also collaborates on a podcast – Fingal’s Cave – that has a focus on more in-depth subjects related to the band. He has just published an extensive and exclusive interview with Rosemary Breen, Syd Barrett’s sister – the person who knew Syd/Roger the best. It’s a fascinating glimpse into Barrett, and you can watch it in full here:
