A member of the pop quartet Foreign Figures, Steve Michels is a singing sensation with a growing following. Hailing from Salt Lake City, Utah – in the USA to be exact – Steve Michels, EJ Michels, JonnyT and Seth78 came together to form the well-received group. Oddly enough, the band members met while living abroad and it seemed only a coincidence that they were natives of Salt Lake City…coincidence or fate?
After taking the local scene by storm, the group gained a reputation for a charismatic and engaging live performance; thereby sharing the stage with artists like Kesha, Lukas Graham, American Authors and X Ambassadors. After touring the US in 2019, Foreign Figures come together to release singles from each band member in 2020. Steve Michels’ contribution is the single ‘Never’.
Recorded alongside EJ Michels, Seth78 and JonnyT, Steve Michels’ ‘Never’ touches on issues like forbidden love, secret obsessions and celebrity crushes – all those intense things that send a person’s heart racing. While fantasising about these love connections is blissful, Steve brings you back to reality with his sombre, yet catchy, lyricism.
Inspired by Justin Timberlake, Sam Smith and Coldplay, Foreign Figures presents a dynamic synth-textured pop sound. Steve, however, makes a true mark on one’s heart with his soaring and endearing vocals. Combining his dulcet tones with the electronic beats, Steve emphasises the feelings of passion, pain and desperation of being in love with someone who doesn’t know you exist. While the content is somewhat disheartening, the melody is a beguiling and soothing anthem.
