George Holliday releases uplifting folk-pop single “Young & Free”, recorded from his very own mobile studio.
It’s not every day you come across a song that has been entirely written, produced and recorded from a converted library bus, but George Holliday (who aptly seems to be on a permanent holiday) has taken on that challenge. New single “Young & Free” is a product of George’s ‘Made On The Road’ project, which travels all over the world recording voices of musicians on the move. Out to spread creativity and positivity wherever he goes, his latest release is an embodiment of his own personality.
“Young & Free” is a feelgood folk-pop thinker of happy thoughts, featuring remarkably clean production (considering that it was recorded in a van). George’s nomadic lifestyle is represented in the instrumentation choices and gentle lyricism, with his tenderness towards humankind at the fore. It is equal parts poignant and gloriously uplifting, especially when a choir of voices appear before the last chorus to create a rapturous – and abrupt – finale.
George announced in 2019 that his goal is to write a collaborative album featuring all the people he met on his travels, and with 16 tracks set to appear on the listing, it sounds as though he achieved his goal of visiting 60(!) locations across Europe in search of collaborators. It’s an undeniably incredible and unique passion project from this young artist, and Turtle Tempo highly recommends heading to George’s social media to keep up with his ongoing journey…
