Man United to check Edinson Cavani’s fitness ahead of Everton

Man United vs Everton

Manchester United will return to Premier League action on Saturday evening.

The Red Devils are no doubt set to head into the tie full of confidence, after putting a record-equalling nine goals past Southampton in their last clash.

But though the win over the Saints did drastically improve United’s goal difference, they are still lagging behind Manchester City in the title race.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side are three points off City, though Pep Guardiola’s men do also have a game in hand, meaning United cannot afford to drop any points as we enter the business end of the season. Though they are likely to face a tough test this weekend, though.

Carlo Ancelotti’s side are currently 6th in the Premier League, but they do have at least two games in hand on most sides above them, meaning they could potentially move as high as 3rd if they win said games in convincing fashion.

Man United provide Cavani update ahead of Everton

Ahead of Saturday evening’s clash, Manchester United have provide an update on Edinson Cavani.

The Uruguayan has become an increasingly important player for United in recent weeks, with one of his latest strikes key to the Manchester powerhouse securing a 2-1 win over Fulham.

However, Cavani managed just 45 minutes of action vs Southampton after picking up a knock. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer had this to say post-Saints:

“Edinson got a bad tackle on his ankle so he had to come off. He probably would have loved to be out there, scoring goals, but there was no point in taking any risks. Hopefully, it won’t swell up too much.”

And now, on Thursday, Man United have confirmed that they are set to check the hitman’s fitness ahead of Saturday.
