Spanish indie artist Lower Mars returns with Axel Stallion: Myths Edition, an expansive 20-track deluxe version of their 2024 album Axel Stallion.
The new deluxe album deepens the original’s medieval fantasy world, blending reimagined tracks with bold sonic experimentation and a more immersive narrative that pushes artistic limits. Moving through electronic-pop and experimental ideas, the track brings a mixture of heavy electronics, processed vocals and splashes of organic instrumentation.
Leading the charge is the single ‘Bloodstream’, a darkly triumphant track that captures themes of ambition, love, and destruction. “It explores the darker side of human nature, where the desire to grow and expand can become intertwined with destruction,” explains Lower Mars. With an evocative sound that conjures images of victorious knights advancing into battle, the song sets the tone for a journey that is both epic and intimate.
Building on the cinematic, indietronica, and art-pop foundation of Axel Stallion, this deluxe edition expands the story of the knight Axel Stallion through fresh perspectives. Tracks like ‘Fragile (Opponent’s Vision)’ and ‘Lover (Your Night) (Spanish Extended Edition)’ offer reimagined takes, adding new layers to the narrative.
The album also ventures into new sonic territories. ‘Magical Boy’ embraces ‘90s art pop influences, while “Poems in the Sunrise” draws inspiration from Japanese blues. Tracks like ‘Horse Dreams’ and ‘Head of a Man’ showcase Lower Mars’ introspective side, reflecting on the creative process and the artist’s personal relationship with music.
With Axel Stallion: Myths Edition, Lower Mars reaffirms their commitment to innovation, offering a compelling fusion of vulnerability and grandeur. This release invites listeners into a richly woven world of sound and storytelling, where myth and emotion intertwine to create music which is strikingly unique and pushes strives to push boundaries.
