Elsewhere, transfer expert Guillem Balague reported on July 7th that Thiago wants to move to one of Liverpool, Manchester United or Arsenal. But Balague also moved to play down Thiago’s links to Anfield, claiming that the Reds aren’t really looking to spend this summer.
It has since been claimed by Bild, though, that Jurgen Klopp has informed Liverpool’s board that he wants Thiago for next season.
But on the same day, David Lynch of the Evening Standard stated that Liverpool will not sign the Bayern man unless one of the club’s current midfielders are sold.
Why is Thiago Alcantara leaving Bayern Munich?
Thiago is set to become a free agent in 2021.
Accordingly, Bayern are resigned to selling him this summer, in order to net a transfer fee.
Sport Bild have also previously provided more context as to why Thiago is keen to leave Bayern this summer.
Readers are told that Thiago was seeking a 4-year extension with Bayern, however the Bavarians originally only wanted to give the midfielder a 3-year deal, with an option for a fourth year.
In the end, Bayern reportedly caved, and they were willing to offer Thiago his 4-year deal. However, by the time Bayern reached this decision, Thiago had decided to leave the club instead.
