As per a report from the Liverpool Echo, Jurgen Klopp is planning a shakeup to the Liverpool squad this summer, with 4 players expected to be moved on.
Liverpool’s recent struggles
The Reds have of course enjoyed a historic campaign to date.
Before the COVID-19 pandemic brought football in England to a halt, Liverpool had built a staggering 25-point advantage over 2nd-placed Manchester City in the Premier League table.
This came with the Merseyside giants having dropped points in just 2 of their 29 league fixtures to this point in the campaign.
However, while at one point in the season Jurgen Klopp’s men looked near-unbeatable, the last month actually proved a hugely-underwhelming one for Liverpool.
6 outings across all competitions saw the Reds fall to 4 defeats, a stretch which cost them their spot in both the Champions League and FA Cup, and brought to an end hopes of matching Arsenal’s unbeaten ‘Invincibles’ campaign.
“It’s difficult to explain these goals, to be honest. The boys fought hard.”
“We will come again, and go again. But for now, we are out.”

Liverpool’s sudden dip in form, meanwhile, has since seen many point to a lack of depth in the club’s squad.
While the first-choice XI of the Merseysiders is unquestionably superb, there is a dearth of options available to Jurgen Klopp in certain positions, one of which (between the posts) proved telling in Liverpool’s Champions League exit.
As per the aforementioned report from the reliable Echo, though, Reds boss Klopp appears fully aware of the current state of his squad when it comes to options off the bench.
And, according to Paul Gorst, this is set to see the German tactician part with a number of 2nd-choice options in the summer, as a squad ‘shake-up’ gets underway at Anfield.
To make room for several likely incomings, all of Xherdan Shaqiri, Adam Lallana, Dejan Lovren and Nathaniel Clyne, among others, are expected to be moved on.
