Leicester want Man Utd star to replace £60m Chelsea target

Leicester have reportedly enquired about Manchester United defender Luke Shaw as they come to terms with the prospect of losing Ben Chilwell.

The Foxes are flying high in the Premier League table this season, currently occupying third place behind Manchester City and runaway leaders Liverpool.

The likes of James Maddison, himself a United target, and Ricardo Pereira have been heavily linked with moves away from the King Power, while Chelsea are said to be ready to offer as much as £60million for the services of Chilwell.

The Daily Mirror (via the Metro) claims that the Foxes have made initial contact with United over a possible move for 24-year-old Shaw, who they view as an ideal replacement for England ace Chilwell.

Shaw has struggled to feature for the Red Devils this season, starting eight Premier League matches, with youngster Brandon Williams filling in for the left-back in recent weeks and impressing with is all-action displays.

The prospect of a big-money offer could tempt United into selling the defender, but they would reportedly want more than the £30m they paid Southampton for Shaw back in 2014.

Meanwhile, reported United target Jean-Clair Todibo is heading for Bundesliga side Schalke on loan until the end of the season.

The Barcelona defender is understood to have travelled to Germany on Sunday night and German paper Bild have a video of the player arriving at Dusseldorf airport.

 

The 19-year-old met up with Schalke officials before heading in a taxi heading for Gelsenkirchen.
