Have Leicester fended off Manchester United?
Leicester are reportedly closing in on the signing of Youri Tielemans who spent last season on loan at the King Power from Monaco.
It would be an understatement to say Tielemans impressed last season.
After a pretty disappointing spell at Monaco, Tielemans moved to Leicester on loan in the January transfer window.
During that time the Belgian impressed both the Leicester fans and general Premier League fans with some brilliant performances.
In just 13 Premier League appearances, Tielemans racked up three goals and five assists.
As a result of that, Leicester were keen to sign him permanently.
However, Manchester United have also been linked with a move recently.
Now though, it looks as though Leicester will get their man.
Huge coup for Leicester City
That’s because according to the Telegraph ‘Brendan Rodgers is closing in on the £40million club record capture of Youri Tielemans.’
It’s said that a deal for Tielemans could be completed as ‘early next week’ after talks with Monaco conclude.
The Telegraph explains ‘Leicester have been in talks for weeks over a deal to sign the Belgium international, who impressed on loan at the King Power Stadium over the second half of the season, and it is understood that it is now progressing towards a positive outcome.’
It’s also reported that Tielemans is now keen to start pre-season and is ‘relishing the prospect to begin a new chapter in his career under Rodgers.’
With potential interest from bigger clubs than Leicester, this is a huge coup for the Foxes.
At just 22-years-old, the Belgian should only get better and Leicester will be hoping he can improve upon his short spell at the King Power in the last campaign.
