Huge news for Liverpool
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has signed a new long-term contract with the club, extending his stay on Merseyside to 2024.
The German boss has been a revelation at the club since joining in 2015.
While there were initial teething problems, Klopp’s Liverpool have developed into something special over the past two years.
After adding players such as Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk, Liverpool are now a complete side with a clear identity and game plan.
The Reds are now benefitting as a result of that, having won the Champions League for the first time since 2005 last season.
They also look on course to win their first Premier League trophy, with Liverpool 14 points above Manchester City and eight above Leicester City.
Now, Jurgen Klopp has committed himself to the club until 2024.
“This club is in such a good place, I couldn’t contemplate leaving”
Speaking after signing his new deal, Klopp claimed both he and Liverpool are perfect for eachother, and he couldn’t even contemplate leaving.
“For me personally this is a statement of intent, one which is built on my knowledge of what we as a partnership have achieved so far and what is still there for us to achieve,” Klopp explained to Liverpool’s official website.
“When I see the development of the club and the collaborative work that continues to take place, I feel my contribution can only grow.”
“When the call came in autumn 2015, I felt we were perfect for each other; if anything, now I feel I underestimated that.
“It is only with a total belief that the collaboration remains totally complimentary on both sides that I am able to make this commitment to 2024.
“If I didn’t I would not be re-signing.
