Liverpool ready to cash in on young midfield star in January

Liverpool are reportedly willing to listen to any offers for young midfielder Herbie Kane in the January transfer window.

A report on Football Insider claimed that the Reds are open to letting the player leave, with sources from within the club having doubts that the 20-year-old can make the jump to first-team level.

Rangers, Swansea and Hull have all been linked with the youngster, who was given his first-team debut in last month’s Carabao Cup win over MK Dons, when he came on as a substitute for the final eight minutes.

However, fellow Anfield youngsters Rhian Brewster, Harvey Elliott, Curtis Jones, Ki-Jana Hoever and Caoimhin Kelleher all started that game, while Kane has made only three appearances in Premier League 2 for the Reds’ Under-23 team so far this campaign.

The midfielder enjoyed a successful loan spell at Doncaster in League One last term, scoring seven goals in 49 appearances in all competitions.

However, Jurgen Klopp brought a host of young players, including Daniel Atherton, Sepp van den Berg, Yasser Larouci, Adam Lewis, Hoever, Jones and Brewster on the first team’s pre-season tour of USA in July, while Kane stayed on Merseyside.

And with competition for places in Liverpool’s midfield so tough, it would appear that the Reds are ready to do deal for Kane – if the right offer comes in.
