Top football agent Kia Joorabchian has labelled the situation between Arsenal and Mesut Ozil as ‘pure stupidity’.
Ozil has not played for the Gunners since March 7 and his omission from the club’s Premier League squad prompted him to post a statement on social media in which he used the sentence “loyalty is hard to come by nowadays”.
The 32-year-old, whose £350,000-a-week contract expires next June, was wanted by clubs in Turkey and the Middle East. However, he chose to stay and fight for his place instead.
But it’s fair to say that Joorabchian is not impressed with the whole saga. Indeed, he believes that former Germany international’s representative is not doing his job by letting the midfielder run his contract down without playing.
“I don’t see any winners in this situation,” Joorabchian told talkSPORT.
“Ozil is not teaching Arsenal a lesson by sitting out and not playing, and Arsenal are not teaching Ozil a lesson by omitting him from the Premier League squad.

“I don’t see who wins in a situation where you don’t find an agreement between each other. It’s just pure stupidity.
Joorabchian previously spoke about the Ozil saga back in September.
Agents have several roles
“I think it’s the essential role of the agent not just to bring high transfers to clubs. But also where there’s a problem to fix it,” he added. “I think that’s what the role and job title says.
“There was a situation at Everton where Theo Walcott wasn’t going to get enough game time and so he moved to Southampton, because they were very proactive.
“The role of the agent in the case of Mesut is to ensure he plays.
“He’s a big player, but he just doesn’t fit the Arsenal mould today. He has a lot of talent, he’s a World Cup winner. This is a player who should be playing somewhere right now.”
Joorabchian, who has a close relationship with Arsenal’s technical director Edu, has several clients at Arsenal including Cedric Soares, David Luiz and Willian.
