Friday’s Finest is a weekly collaborative post between us at Turtle Tempo, It’s All Indie, Indie Central Music & Nexus Music Blog. Every Friday we pick a track that we have been loving with the post going up on one our respected blogs.
Dan from Turtle Tempo’s pick – Hoofa – Lve
After taking a hiatus from playing live shows, London indie duo Hoofa (consisting of James & Alan) are well and truly back with new single ‘Lve’, the track was produced by Robin Schmidt (The 1975).
Lve features really likeable, upbeat instrumentals and we can’t get enough of its 60s doo-wop sound. If you’re a fan of The Smiths then you’re definitely going to enjoy listening to Hoofa and their modern twist.
Fred from It’s All Indie’s pick: Among The Citizens – In Your Car
Last year we had our first proper introduction to Among The Citizens, and even from early on we could tell that they had the vibe that they’d write some huge tunes, and that’s exactly what “In Your Car” is. It’s addictive with some surf-style guitars but with some even more distortion than before with a bit of electronica to give it that pulsating feel.
If you’re fans of Two Door Cinema Club then these guys are right up your street, but being based in the English region of East Anglia they’re a bit more polished off and are really at the beginning of their rise. Since we first picked up on the band they’ve been played on BBC Radio, Radio X countless times and have been picked up by a booking agency we actually love! One things for sure, if those aforementioned outlets are getting on board with Among The Citizens then you definitely should do too, they’re going to be a household name in no time at this rate!
Alex from Indie Central Music’s pick: APRE – Come Down
Following their performance at Camden’s Roundhouse supporting Friendly Fires on Wednesday (October 30th), Kent-based quartet APRE showed just how much potential they have. Dedicating their hit single ‘Come Down’ to EA Sports – who featured the track on FIFA 20 – the indie rockers impressed the crowd with their maturity, energy and powerful music.
APRE was an ICM Ones To Watch this year and the band certainly haven’t disappointed. ‘Come Down’ isn’t their most listened to track on Spotify but it is their most anthemic single to date. Next year is going to be huge for this band and we will be following every step of that journey.
Michael from Nexus Music Blog’s pick: Ivory Wave – Weigh Me Down
If you’re still needing an introduction to Ivory Wave, then just know that I feel your absolutely wholesome ‘thank you’! The Birmingham based five-piece have made incredible strides forward since Nexus reviewed one of their earlier releases roughly two years ago in ‘Separate Beat’.
Back with a bang and flooding the sonic highways with more goodness than we as people deserve, let me provide you with ‘Weigh Me Down’. Full of the normal recollections of nostalgic vibes, feel good highs, slow builds and the definite deliverance of deserved deliciousness. You’ll be absolutely lost in the sound of Ivory Wave, and revel in its goodness, it’s all yours.
