Just announced is a further date on the US leg of David Gilmour’s upcoming tour – David and his band will be performing at the Intuit Dome in Inglewood, Los Angeles, California, on Friday, October 25th (https://www.brain-damage.co.uk/2024-david-gilmour-tour-zone/october-25th-intuit-dome-inglewood-los-angeles-c.html). This latest addition to David’s 2024 Luck and Strange live shows is this show in a venue that is undergoing the final stages of its construction, and it sounds a most interesting building. The architect, AECOM, notes that the “Intuit Dome will be naturally ventilated, fully electric through batteries and solar power with enough on-site energy storage to power a basketball game or concert, and have no net new greenhouse gas emissions.” To qualify for the pre-sale, which starts on June 12th at 10am local time, you need to sign up at DavidGilmour.com (https://www.davidgilmour.com/uspresale) beforehand to get the pre-sale code. There’s also a venue pre-sale which begins on June 13th at 10am local time. Tickets will then go on general sale at 10am local time on Friday, June 14th, through this link at Ticketmaster (https://www.ticketmaster.com/david-gilmour-tickets/artist/769001).

2021 Pink Floyd Calendar – now available
As we head toward the final part of 2020, a year that no-one could have predicted would turn out like it has, it’s the time to try and forget all that, and focus on the future with the Official Pink Floyd 2021 Calendar. It’s a perennial Floyd fan favourite – particularly as a gift at Christmas time. An item which has been produced for many years now, and designed for use on walls, the standardised format is roughly the same size as a vinyl album – roughly 12 (or 30cm) square, with the calendar opening up to have a double page spread per month. The calendar this year is a celebration of the band in its later years, via various images, record sleeves, and suchlike, many of which were either newly created for The Later Years box set, or have been unearthed as previously unused. The images to the left show all twelve monthly images, along with what the double-page layout looks like on a typical month. The calendar each year is often squirrelled away as a collectable for the years to come, and earlier examples are now quite sought after. Roger Waters – Amused To Death ‘Analogue Productions 4LP Edition’
RoughTrade.com (https://roughtrade.com/gb/roger-waters/amused-to-death-analogue-productions-edition/lp-x4). For those of you in North America, AcousticSounds (https://store.acousticsounds.com/d/140357/Roger_Waters-Amused_To_Death-Vinyl_Box_Sets) are listing this release, but their details are much vaguer – they don’t have a release date, and the product they are offering is apparently on four 180g pieces of vinyl, and not 200g as with Rough Trade’s version. However, this might be an outdated listing. AcousticSounds do ship worldwide, although shipping costs can be high, so the Rough Trade option might be preferable (especially if it avoids import duties for you).

Nick Mason collaborates on new song for The Cancer Awareness Trust
Released today (Friday, December 16th) is This Christmas Time (https://thecancerplatform.com/this-christmas-time), a beautiful new song to support a new online global project providing information to people living with cancer, led by The Cancer Awareness Trust. Nick Mason, along with Ozzy Osbourne (who narrates a moving introduction), Andy Taylor of Duran Duran (who recently revealed his own battle with cancer) and Noddy Holder, lead a group of renowned artists on the song. It’s Nick’s second collaboration with the charitable endeavour founded by Professor Sir Chris Evans – the first being 2018’s One More Yard (https://www.brain-damage.co.uk/archive/one-more-yard-song-out-now-including-ronnie-wood-and-nick.html). On the new project, Nick said: “It’s an honour and a delight to be asked to play on this record…I mean, what’s not to like? My favourite recording studio, the opportunity to work with great artists on a wonderful track – and for the most worthy cause… Oh, and complimentary lunch in the Abbey Road canteen!” This Christmas Time, written by Prof. Sir Chris Evans (who also played guitar), is inspired by the heroism and letters home from World War 1 British soldiers at Christmas. It has been released on Evamore Records and is now available on streaming and download platforms. The song is available to play on The Cancer Platform website, where youâll also find the full video for the song (the video below is purely the audio), photos of the recording sessions, quotes from the artists and information from Prof. Sir Chris on how he put the songs together and why (https://thecancerplatform.com/this-christmas-time).
