Fabrizio Romano has provided a key update on the future of Juventus star Paulo Dybala, and it is good news for Tottenham.
Dybala is in the final few months of his Juventus contract. The Turin outfit are keen to sort out a renewal, although fresh terms are yet to be announced.
Uncertainty surrounding the attacker means Juve boss Max Allegri is regularly asked to provide an update.
On Sunday, the manager said: “There are some exchanges of opinion, I am always rather direct, but I am like this for the good of the players, who know they have my faith and admiration.
“Paulo arrived as a kid from Palermo, he has become a great player. There’s no problem.”
Allegri continued: “I don’t know if he will be a Juventus player or not, that is a matter for the club. We often talk with the club, it’s not just Paulo whose contract is running down, but also Bernardeschi, De Sciglio, Perin and Cuadrado.
“My job is to do well in these final weeks of the season. I can evaluate players, but when it comes to contracts, what the players want, these are other elements.”
Paulo Dybala plotting transfer
According to Fabrizio Romano, Juve had an agreement in place with Dybala dating back to October. It would have seen the Argentina international earn £8.3million net salary until 2026.
However, Romano claims Juve have now changed their offer. He does not reveal what the new terms are, but Dybala is not happy.
The 28-year-old doesn’t like the new wages on offer and will now begin talks with other clubs.
Romano claims Dybala’s time at the Allianz Stadium is over, as he will leave on a free transfer this summer.
The update is ideal for Tottenham, who have been pursuing Dybala for several years. They can now bring him in without having to pay a release clause or transfer fee.
Spurs will just need to organise a contract with the forward before signing him, although competition could arise from other big teams.
Tottenham deal questioned by report
Meanwhile, reports in France question the effectiveness of Spurs capturing Pape Sarr from Metz.
The defensive midfielder linked up with Spurs in August as they paid £16.8m for his signature. Sarr was then sent back to Metz to continue his development.
However, French outlet L’Equipe claim Sarr is not up to scratch in Ligue 1.
Alongside two team-mates, he is referred to as ‘the harmless gang’ by the newspaper.
The report states Sarr’s transfer to Spurs has done him more harm than good. The 19-year-old is a ‘stalling’ player, suggesting he may not be able to make it in the Premier League.
