“Should be sold in the summer” – Journalist slams West Ham man who is “too much of a liability”

West Ham United left-back Arthur Masuaku has been slated by The Athletic journalist Roshane Thomas in a Q&A, following the 3-3 draw against Brighton & Hove Albion.

What did he say?

Most people associated with the Hammers will have been left frustrated by the game, especially when it is considered that they walked away with a point after going two goals up twice.

What makes things even worse, is that this now means that David Moyes’ side have dropped into the bottom three, due to AFC Bournemouth beating Aston Villa.

With that in mind, it is only natural that certain members of the squad will come under question following the game.

One fan asked what Masuaku offers the team, to which Thomas replied: “I think every West Ham fan asks themselves that question every week! He should be sold in the summer. He’s too much of a liability.”

Not good enough

Arthur Masuaku replaced Michail Antonio in the 74th minute with the score at 3-1; five minutes later and it was 3-3.

Of course, that is not all his fault, but he didn’t exactly do much to help the Hammers’ cause after entering the field of play.

The 26-year-old didn’t even attempt a tackle throughout the game, in fact, he didn’t make any defensive contributions at all.

It can even be said that he didn’t do much in general, as the Democratic Republic of Congo international made no dribbles, took no shots and didn’t make any key passes – he simply watched on as Brighton got themselves back into the game.

Is life under Gold and Sullivan really that bad? Maybe this quiz will change your minds, West Ham fans…

This is not the first time that his introduction off the bench has coincided with the team’s capitulation, as it also happened against Arsenal.

Masuaku had replaced Aaron Cresswell in the 51st minute with the Hammers 1-0 up, but by the time the clock hit 69, Arsenal were 3-1 up – Nicolas Pepe, who he was directly up against, got a goal and assist.

Thomas is correct in saying Masuaku is a liability, hopefully, Moyes begins to realise that soon.

Meanwhile, West Ham fans reacted to their deadline day signing.
