Brighton’s four-piece indie-rock outfit, Bighead Tea Drinkers, return with a powerful new single, ‘The Land Is Hers’, dropping October 11th.
Packed with energy and an effortlessly cool 90s influenced edge, ‘The Land Is Hers’ continues the bands growth following the previous single ‘Flowers’. Capturing the essence of Bighead Tea Drinkers’ live performances, the single blends anthemic, stadium-worthy vocal melodies with a gritty full-band sound that bursts with indie-rock urgency. Driving drums, thick, fuzzy basslines, and crunchy guitar riffs lay the foundation for a song that builds towards an explosive guitar solo before closing with a soaring final chorus.
It’s as reminiscent of Oasis as it is of modern indie acts like Catfish and the Bottlemen, reflecting how far the band has come since their early releases.
Talking about the track, the band collectively shared their thoughts on what makes “The Land Is Hers” special. Marshall explains, “I love this song because it wastes no time hitting you in the face. It’s gritty, raw, and a step into a new sonic direction for us.” Ellie adds that it’s “driven by a heavier bass line, punchy drums, and dirtier guitar tones. It has this infectious energy and shows a side of us you haven’t seen before.” Fred notes that the song speaks to “people who battle with self-belief. If you ignore the negative narrator in your head, you can accomplish anything.” Kian rounds it off by describing it as “a strong new single that rushes you into a darker, more powerful sound.”
Still in their early twenties, Bighead Tea Drinkers have been making waves in the indie scene, drawing influence from iconic acts like The Strokes, The Clash, and Lana Del Rey. Known for their electric live shows, they’ve sold out venues across Brighton, London, Birmingham, and Bristol, and performed at festivals including The Great Escape. With support from Radio X and XS Manchester (who named them track of the week), this new single is set to cement their rising status as one to watch.
