Welcome friends to another delightful Beneath the Surface slice. Today I am joined by the lovely Fabri who has recently released his debut single ‘Here Tonight’, very exciting stuff here on Turtle Tempo. We get a wonderful little insight to Fabri and his musical journey so far. Check it out below!
What would you say sparked your interest in music/who inspired you to make music?
Although my interest in music has always been there, playing the guitar is what inspired me to make music.
How would you describe the music you are currently creating?
My main genre is pop music, with a bit of a rocky edge. But when performing live with my guitar, I’d say my songs become more intimate and have an indie quality to them.
What does your creative process look like
Music first, then words. I usually record myself while playing random series of chords with my guitar and improvising vocal melodies on top. Once I have a basic tune, I try to find words that fit well with the rhythm and at some point in the process the meaning of the song comes to life.
Who would you most like to collaborate with? (let’s send out to the universe and make it happen!)
Coldplay
What is the one message you would like to send out to your fans?
It’s never too late to take a passion seriously!
What’s your top tip to rejuvenate your creativity / get over a writer’s block?
I’m not an expert, as I’m only at the beginning of my creative journey, though I find travelling extremely productive for songwriting. I have written many parts of my songs while on a train, on an airplane or on a long car ride.
What’s next for you, what do we have to look forward to / what are you currently working on?
I’m planning on releasing a single over the summer (my first song in Italian). On top of that, “Here Tonight” is the fourth song of a body of work of 9 songs, so stay tuned as there is a lot more content to come!
