Todays guest is truly a momentous one. The enigmatic, mysterious Amen Sioux sits down with us and shares all! Thank you for your honesty and authenticty. So get comfy friends and let’s enter the world of Amen Sioux.

What would you say first sparked your interest in music/who inspired you to make music?

There was always music playing in my house, my father was a really good singer and he loved The Police, Prince, Lenny Kravitz, Japan, Oasis to mention a few. I started playing guitar at the age of 6 after my uncle who’s a great guitar player gifted me with his Nirvana – Unplugged in New York songbook. Oh I loved listening to him playing The Smashing Pumpkins! My father bought me an acoustic guitar for my 6th birthday with a birthday card saying “ Silence speaks a thousand words, a chord won’t let you stay silent. A thousand chords my love”. He later smashed it on my back when I was 10.

From that moment on music became my safe place.

How would you describe the music you are currently creating?

It’s hard to put a pin or a label on my sound because I don’t stay on the same thing for too long. It’s just weird mate!! I can say it is infectious, funk-fueled, jazzy, rock – it is all of that in one where there’s a lot going on and all goes together to be one pattern.

What does your creative process look like?

I record all of my ideas as audio notes everyday, then I develop the best ones into songs. Inspiration can come at very random times and is often fleeting.

Who would you most like to collaborate with? (let’s send it out to the universe and make it happen!) I am deeply in love with Steve Lacy’s music, Slowthai, Cruza, Eyedress, St. Panther, Orion Sun, Kara Jackson, Q !!! Let’s make it happen guys

What is the one message you would like to send out to your fans?

Always believe in your soul , you’ve got the power to know your’e indestructible, always believe in yourself.

What’s your top tip to rejuvenate your creativity/get over a writer’s block?

Having a writer’s block happens all the time mate. When it happens I just get so depressed, like, “What the fuck?! What if a new idea doesn’t come again?” It’s the scariest thought. When I’m uninspired now, I just go find some new stuff to be inspired by.

What’s next for you, what do we have to look forward to/ what are you currently working on?

I’ll be releasing my first EP soon and I am currently writing my first album.

I’m excited for the future – & so are we!
