The agent of Real Madrid star Gareth Bale, Jonathan Barnett, cannot understand why Los Blancos do not play the 32-year-old – while also revealing when his future will be decided.
Bale has made just five appearances under Carlo Ancelotti this season, scoring once. His lack of action is due to being out of favour with the Italian, as well as picking up several injuries.
Bale was looking to help Wales qualify for the 2022 World Cup and also make a big impression during the international break.
And he did both of those with a stunning display against Austria on Thursday. The winger hit two sublime goals to help Wales reach the play-off final.
Robert Page’s men will face either Scotland or Ukraine in the tie, as they bid to reach their first World Cup since 1958.
Following Bale’s brace, Barnett conducted an interview with The Telegraph. He slammed Real for their treatment of his client and also revealed when a decision on his future will take place.
“Gareth doesn’t know what will happen in the summer, and everything depends on Wales,” Barnett said.
Gareth Bale set to decide future
“We haven’t spoken to anybody and it will be a decision he makes at some time in June.
“It’s unbelievable they [Real Madrid] haven’t played him, because he can still do things, as everybody saw on Thursday night.
“If they got him into that team and involved, they would have a great player but we’ll live with it and get on with it.
“He’s the greatest player that has ever played for Wales, and one of the greatest Britain has ever produced.”
Wales ace could end up at Newcastle
Newcastle are one of the teams who could look to bring Bale back to his best. They can afford his huge wages thanks to their Saudi Arabian takeover in October.
And Brazil legend Rivaldo has previously tipped Bale to end up at St James’ Park. “I think he could even stay in Spain if a good offer arrives from a club with European ambitions,” the former attacking midfielder said.
“But the most likely scenario should be a return to England to a league he knows well. But that is also more demanding than any other.
“I definitely wouldn’t rule out a move to Newcastle. As I think there is a chance they might convince him to return to the highest level as one of the stars of the team next season, in what will presumably become a very interesting squad.
“At 32 years old he can still play for some time if he wishes to follow the steps of others like Cristiano Ronaldo, Thiago Silva or even myself.”
