The reliable David Ornstein has, on Tuesday, provided some fresh insight into a future destination for Chelsea’s Willian.
Willian rejects fresh Chelsea deal
Willian has, of course, been a key figure at Stamford Bridge for the best part of seven years now.
All told, the Brazilian has notched 339 appearances for the capital giants, scoring 63 and assisting 62 along the way.
However, the winger’s stint at Chelsea does look to be coming to an end.
Willian did sign a short-term deal recently in order to see out the remainder of the Covid-19-hit campaign at Chelsea.
But with it reported on Monday that Willian had rejected another contract offer from the Blues, it now looks pretty likely he will be departing the club in the near future.
Arsenal eyeing Willian
Willian’s agent would recently claim that his client had offers from five different clubs.
However, according to the aforementioned report from Ornstein, there are now just two sides in for Willian – Arsenal and an unnamed club.
It was also claimed on Monday that the Gunners were the front runners for the Brazilian’s signature, and now Ornstein has stated that the north Londoners are preparing to offer Willian a three-year deal.
Crucially, it’s worth noting that the desire for a three-year deal looks to be why Willian hasn’t penned fresh terms with Chelsea.
Arsenal’s deal, as per Ornstein, is unlikely to be the most lucrative from a financial perspective, though it is added that it would be the most enticing from a football perspective.
Willian options now down from 4 (Chelsea, Arsenal, Barca & Miami) to 2: Arsenal + unnamed other
3yr offer expected imminently, on request of Arteta
