Arsenal linked with Buendia
Recent months have seen Arsenal heavily linked with a swoop for Norwich’s Buendia.
The winger/midfielder was one of the Canaries’ brighter sparks amid an altogether disappointing 2019/20 season, which saw them once again relegated to the Championship.
On the back of their demotion, though, Buendia has continued to impress, notching seven goals and seven assists in 20 league outings.
As a result, it is easy to see why Arsenal, a side devoid of creativity, may be interested in the 24-year-old.
It was even claimed recently that the Gunners were willing to offer Reiss Nelson as part of a deal for Buendia.
The Argentine himself, meanwhile, has confirmed that he would be open to returning to the Premier League, either through promotion or via a transfer.
Buendia to stay at Norwich this month?
However, as the winter window rolls on, several updates have now hinted that it is unlikely that Buendia will be moving clubs this month.
Firstly, the reliable James Benge stated recently that there has been little contact between Arsenal and Buendia during the early weeks of the window:
With Mesut Ozil’s departure imminent Arsenal continue to assess targets for a new creator this month. Emi Buendia one of their leading targets but there has been little contact between parties in early weeks of window. That doesn’t mean it won’t change but Norwich want a big fee.

Now, on Wednesday, Goal have provided another update on Arsenal’s links to the Argentine.
As per Charles Watts, Buendia is not expecting Arsenal to make a late move for him in the January transfer window and is happy to wait until the summer before deciding his future.
Watts adds that the midfielder remains fully focused on Norwich’s promotion push, with it added that should Arsenal indeed sign a creative midfielder this month, it will likely be a short-term option in the form of a loan:
Bit on Arsenal and Buendia
– He’s not expecting a bid this month
– Reps in constant contact with Edu
