Borussia Dortmund 0 – Bayern Munich 1
Bayern Munich’s charge towards the 2019-20 Bundesliga title took a major step forward on Tuesday night at Borussia Dortmund.
Had BVB won, the gap at the top of the table would have been shrunk to just one point.
However, Joshua Kimmich’s outstanding chip for Bayern just before the break, now means that Bayern are 7 points clear in first place.
Surely the Bavarians are now out of sight, right?
Oh. My. Word.

Alphonso Davies made a brilliant tackle against Erling Haaland
One of the standout moments of Tuesday’s game involved Bayern’s 19-year-old Canadian international Alphonso Davies.
Davies played a blinder at left-back at the Signal Iduna Park, as he dominated his side of the pitch.
One moment in the first half caught everyone’s attention.
Dortmund launched a counter-attack, which freed star striker Erling Haaland.
However, as Haaland tried to race into the box, he was stopped by an incredible piece of defensive work from Davies.
Davies registered a speed of 35.3km/h (21.9mph) when he tracked back to block the Norwegian attacker.
Alphonso Davies is RAPID 😳
He's barely in the picture when Erling Haaland goes through on goal!

If Alphonso Davies were to run at his top speed (v Borussia Dortmund) of 35.3 kilometres per hour, he could cover the distance from Durham to Barnard Castle in 75 minutes and 45 seconds.

How Alphonso Davies analysed his amazing tackle on Haaland
After the game, Davies was asked about that standout moment against Haaland.
Rather than boasting about his speed, the Canadian believed the moment highlighted one of the weaknesses in his game: his positioning.
Obviously being a young player I get caught out of position a lot and I’m happy to have the speed I have.
That’s a factor in my game that I use very well, but I think over the years going forward with this team I will definitely learn more about my position, better positioning so it doesn’t look like I’m out of position just running back as fast as I can to catch up.

Thomas Muller compares Davies to the Road Runner
Perhaps the best description of Davies’ speed came from Thomas Muller.
Muller compared the Bayern teenager to the cartoon character, the Road Runner:
He’s a player with a lot of heart and a lot of power, extreme power.
Sometimes maybe he’s not [at his] best position on the field, but he gets the opponent when you think, ‘Oh, I have time, I have time’ and then ‘Meep meep meep meep’ the FC Bayern Road Runner comes ahead and steals the ball.
