Album Review: Yoshi Flower – ‘PEER PLEASURE’

Last Friday, June 7, alternative/indie artist Yoshi Flower released a mixtape titled Peer Pleasure, consisting of 9 incredible tracks. This follows his previous single, titled “Dirty Water”. I definitely recommend checking that song out if you’re unfamiliar with it. It’s super catchy and overall just a great song.

The first song off the mixtape is titled ‘necklace (prologue)’. It is a slow romantic song with beautiful acoustics and vocals. It’s a great introductory song to the mixtape.  ‘validation’, the second song, has incredible lyrics that really resonated with me. The song gives me major hip-hop and electronic-pop vibes. The chorus is sung beautifully, and the hip-hop verses complement the chorus really well. It displays the different styles that Yoshi Flower has all in one track.

Another song that is definitely worth checking out from this mixtape is ‘space’. The beat is fast-paced and flows with the lyrics really well.

One that is also worth a mention is the track ‘love. In my opinion, the introduction leading up to the lyrics really makes the song. I like how simple the song feels. The vocals are soft and beautiful.

One thing is for sure, Yoshi Flower is not an artist that you’ll want to sleep on. I highly recommend checking out this mixtape and his past work, because, without a doubt, this is an artist on the rise.

You can catch Yoshi Flower at Lollapalooza on August 2. Peer Pleasure is available on all major streaming platforms.
