Album Review: State of Mine – ‘Seeing Red’

On March 27th, State of Mine released their new album, Seeing Red. The title track is up first, and it’s upbeat and has a catchy chorus. You can check out the music video for it here. State of Mine covered Post Malone’s “Take What You Want,” giving a heavier sound to the song while maintaining its rap vibe. My favorite song on the album is “Can’t Stop Me,” which perfectly fuses a mix of genres, including metalcore, hip-hop, and rock. State of Mine also covered “It’s Been Awhile” by Stand. The focus on the piano at the beginning of the song makes this cover stand out from the original. “Paranoid,” a cover of the Black Sabbath song, is fast and is filled with impressive guitar solos. The album also includes the radio edits of “Can’t Stop Me” and “It’s Been Awhile.” Seeing Red may only consist of two original songs and three covers, but all five tracks are songs that make me want to put this album on repeat for a long time.

  1. Seeing Red
  2. Take What You Want
  3. Can’t Stop Me
  4. It’s Been Awhile
  5. Paranoid
  6. Can’t Stop Me (Radio Edit)
  7. It’s Been Awhile (Radio Edit)
