Another weekend of Premier League football, and we have plenty more VAR controversy to discuss.
The Video Assistant Referee has been implemented since the start of the season in English football’s top tier, and it has been met with much discussion. A lot believe it to be a big threat to the future of the game, and there seems to be a lack of those backing it.
After their match against Manchester United, Liverpool fans will probably be cursing it. At Old Trafford, they were on the wrong end of two VAR decisions. Firstly, they were refused a foul in the build-up to Marcus Rashford’s opener, whilst Sadio Mane was deemed to have handled the ball before he put the ball in the back of the net just before half time.

The Anfield outfit’s fans were clearly disgusted with VAR, and they did not hide it. They took to Twitter to share their thoughts, and you can see some of the best comments from the social media platform below.
VAR is genuinely the most pointless thing in football

United score after a clear foul on Origi in the build up.
What’s the point of VAR anymore? #Liverpoolfc #Liverpool

So, basically all VAR is, is a delayed offside checker.

Blows for every little touch on them but the complete opposite for us. What’s the point in VAr if it doesn’t overturn goals like that with a clear foul in the build up

Don’t get me wrong United are the better side so far in this game but I just do not get VAR. Its a joke! #MUNLIV

if anyone EVER DARES try to tell me VAR is there to benefit liverpool, i’ll genuinely lose it.

VAR is an absolute joke?!?! How on earth is that not given as a foul?! Origi was clearly kicked by Lindelof. Very poor refereeing by Martin Atkinson in the first place. ???
