With our favourite festival 110 Above fast approaching, we’ve dissected the indie belter of a lineup to bring you 5 artists you simply cannot miss this year, so get off the portaloo, unzip your tent and ensure you’re ready to groove to the whole lineup, but especially this handful!
Flyte
With new music on the horizon, there has surely never been a more perfect time to see Flyte live. After wowing the thousands at Atherstone last year, the London-based alternative band combine sounds from the good ol’ days reminiscent of The Beatles, but make no mistake, Flyte make music with their own unique modern take. They’re back at 110 Above this August. ‘Light Me Up’ is sure to have the whole farm bouncing, maybe even the resident chickens too.
Marsicans
Taking to the stage on the farm for the fourth consecutive year is our favourite Leeds indie four-piece, Marsicans. We’re absolutely ecstatic to jam out to their bouncy, feel-good set in the summer sunshine and we especially can’t wait to hear their latest single, ‘Little Things’.
Have a listen below to an acoustic performance of ‘Gone In A Second’ recorded at 110 Above.
Fuzzy Sun
Stockport’s Fuzzy Sun are undoubtedly the crème de la crème when it comes to making summer-soaked sounds, we simply can’t get enough of them. If you’re into melodic dreamy pop as much as we are, Fuzzy Sun will make you fuzzy inside, and will make you feel like you’re on a warm California beach rather than the equally incredible Gopsall Hall Farm.
Lauran Hibberd
Indie-rock artist Lauran Hibberd was recently branded as “one to watch” by Huw Stephens and Huw is not wrong. We love the infectious, powerful, 90s influenced music that the Isle of Wight artist produces. You’re guaranteed to have a blast watching Lauran and her band live with their highly energetic performance.
The Modern Strangers
Hailing from Tunbridge Wells, The Modern Strangers are fronted by brother’s Max and Archie Davenport and make electronic indie-pop with distinctive 80’s influenced sounds. Super synthesisers! The band’s song ‘Margarita’ was featured in a BBC documentary as it was selected by a computer algorithm as the song most likely to be a chart hit. If that doesn’t convince you that their music is great, we don’t know what will!
