Warren Gatland has been hugely praised for his leadership of the British & Irish Lions in 2013 and 2017, but even he has had some of the Lions worst call-ups.
The ranking, selected by fans, is a mix of shock call-ups and players who massively underperformed, whether due to injury or poor on-pitch performances.

5. George North (2017) – 5/10
Fell well below the blistering standards of his Lions tour to Australia four years previous. Didn’t arrive in good form, looked a little hesitant before contact and ironically showed his best form when shifted to centre in draw v Hurricanes, after which a torn hamstring ended his tour. Hugely disappointing when you consider an in-form Jonny May wasn’t selected.
